Our Weapons Arts program introduces students to the principles, techniques, and traditions of several martial arts weapon systems. Training emphasizes coordination, focus, discipline, precision, and an understanding of how weapon techniques relate to broader martial arts concepts.
Primary areas of study include Kumdo, the Korean art of sword sparring; Iaido, the Japanese art of drawing and wielding the katana; and Jodo, the art of using the jo staff. Students develop proper footwork, body mechanics, offensive and defensive strategies, and forms through structured drills and partner exercises. As students advance, they may also be introduced to additional traditional weapons and training methods.
Whether your goal is to explore the history and traditions of martial arts weapons, improve your overall martial arts skills, or challenge yourself with a new area of study, our Weapons Arts program provides a unique and rewarding training experience.
Class Level: Intermediate / Advanced
Eligibility: Green Belt & Above (or Instructor Approval)
Our Dynamic Defense program integrates principles and techniques from multiple martial arts systems, including Shorinji Tetsu-Kempo, Hapkido, Taiji Chin Na, and other complementary disciplines. The program emphasizes practical self-defense, body mechanics, movement efficiency, and the development of skills that can enhance a student's overall martial arts training.
Training includes striking and kicking combinations, joint controls, escapes, takedowns, defensive tactics, partner drills, and conditioning exercises. Students also explore anatomy and physiology through the study of body mechanics and motion, gaining a deeper understanding of how the body generates power, maintains balance, and responds to various techniques. This knowledge helps students improve their effectiveness while training safely and efficiently.
Whether you are looking to expand your martial arts knowledge, develop practical self-defense skills, or gain a greater understanding of human movement and performance, Dynamic Defense provides a challenging and engaging learning experience.
